Palak Chicken

For ppl like my pati who want chicken with palak also ;)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 killo chicken on bone
  • 2 onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1-teaspoon kashmiri red chili powder (for color and flavour)
  • 2 slit green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon the normal spicy red chili powder
  • 1-tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 black pepper powder
  • 1/4th teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chicken Masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1/2-teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon green cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Curd
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 bunch Spinach leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or oil for diet conscious ppl (2 for ppl who are least bothered about calories ;) )
  • 1/2-1 cup water (optional )


Method:

  • First take a bowl wash the chicken thoroughly with some turmeric powder.
  • Now add the Salt and all the dry spices mentioned in the list of ingredients except for the cardamom powder , curd and let it marinate for 1 hour. 
  • Heat oil in a handi add the chicken and cook it on a slow flame. After 5-7 minutes when the chicken turns white and seals add the onions and cook for another couple of minutes.
  • Time to add the ginger garlic paste/green chilies and let it it cook through. Right after add the tomatoes and spinach leaves together and combine well.
  • No water is required, as the chicken will cook in its juices along with the juices and water left by the tomatoes and spinach. 
  • If you want some more gravy you may add water from 1/2 to 1 cup but that is optional. 
  • Wait till the tomatoes are completely done and the spinach cooks through which is an easy process.  
  • Check salt if required add more according to your taste. 
  • Finally once the chicken is done and sizzling garnish with the cardamom powder. 
  • Serve this hot and spicy dish with steamed rice or chapattis.
